AUDIENCE: Qualified Occupational Therapists who have completed a PRPP Assessment Course

The Perceive, Recall, Plan and Perform System of Task Analysis (PRPP System) is one of the Occupational Performance Model (Australia) assessment and intervention models. It comprises an assessment (PRPP Assessment) and an intervention (PRPP Intervention). The PRPP System focuses on how people USE cognition to achieve occupational performance goals. The PRPP System is applicable to people of all ages, from infancy to advanced age, irrespective of diagnosis, severity or chronicity.

The Perceive, Recall, Plan & Perform Intervention (PRPP-I) is designed for use by occupational therapists who have completed a PRPP Assessment course.  The intervention approach aims to improve task performance mastery by addressing the specific cognitive strategy application behaviours identified through PRPP assessment as most impacting on mastery.  Instructional methods used to address these behaviours incorporate cues and prompts that align with specific perceive, recall, plan and perform processing operations and preferences.  The efficacy of this approach has been observed in children and adults with a variety of diagnoses and conditions that impact everyday cognition, and demonstrated through research with adults with traumatic brain impairment and children with social and behavioural difficulties.

OBJECTIVES:  Participants will be able to:
1. Compare and contrast PRPP intervention with other forms of occupational therapy task training methods.
2. Select critical strategy application behaviours to address in therapy.
3. Set measurable occupational performance goals for task mastery and cognitive strategy application.
4. Design a detailed plan to build cognitive strategy application behaviours required to improve or maintain performance mastery.
5. Apply PRPP-I to people seen in their practice contexts.

PRESENTERS:
This course will be taught by Associate Professor Chris Chapparo and Dr. Judy Ranka who are occupational therapists, researchers and educators with extensive national and international teaching experience.
