Expressions of interest for PRPP Assessment courses in the UK are to be sent to prpp.uk@gmail.com
The Perceive, Recall, Plan and Perform Assessment (PRPP-A) is part of the PRPP System of Task Analysis (PRPP System). The PRPP-A is a standardised, criterion-referenced, authentic assessment of occupational performance and participation. It is a person-centred, occupation-embedded, and contextually situated approach that can be used with anyone whose occupational performance and participation is compromised by difficulties with the cognitive demands of performance and participation. It is not limited by age, gender, diagnosis or culture.
The PRPP-A assesses performance mastery (Stage One) and cognitive strategy application capacity (Stage Two). Strategy application behaviours assessed align with dimensions of attention and perception (P), learning, memory and recall (R), planning, decision-making and judgment (P), and the capacity to act on decisions and follow-through with plans (P).
The PRPP assessment is used internationally, and has been translated into several languages. It has established validity in a variety of practice areas including neurology, mental health, dementia, learning disabilities, autism, chronic pain, sensory processing disorders, social competence difficulties, and in neonatology. Acceptable reliability has been demonstrated following training.
OBJECTIVES:
1. Describe the occupational therapy, neurosciences and educational foundation of the assessment, and its psychometric properties.
2. Assess and score task performance mastery from videotaped examples of client performances using Stage One of the PRPP Assessment.
3. Assess and score cognitive strategy application behaviours applied to tasks on dimensions of perceive, recall, plan and perform from videotaped examples of client performances using Stage Two of the PRPP Assessment.
4. Write specific, measurable mastery and strategy application goals for clients assessed.
5. Use the PRPP Assessment as a client centred outcome measure of occupational performance.
6. Understand the implications of assessment findings for occupational therapy intervention.
