The Perceive, Recall, Plan & Perform (PRPP) System of Task Analysis is an assessment and intervention model. The PRPP Assessment is a standardised, client centred, criterion referenced, ecological occupational therapy assessment of occupational performance. It is used with clients of any age, gender, diagnosis, or cultural background whose performance is compromised by difficulties with the cognitive demands presented by occupations and contexts. The assessment yields information about performance mastery and cognitive strategy application capacity. Strategy application behaviours assessed align with dimensions of attention and perception (P), learning, memory and recall (R), planning, decision-making and judgment (P), and the capacity to act on decisions and follow-through with plans (P). The PRPP assessment is used internationally, and has been translated into several languages. It has established validity in a variety of practice domains including acquired brain impairment, mental health, learning and developmental disabilities, sensory processing disorders, autism, chronic pain, HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders, and dementia, and is used with babies through to the very aged from English and non-English speaking and indigenous backgrounds who live in city, suburban, rural and remote locations. Acceptable reliability has been demonstrated following training. For information about the PRPP Intervention see the Ecological Interventions – Cognitive Strategies part of this website
