Dr. Chapparo is an academic in the Discipline of Occupational Therapy at the University of Sydney in Australia. She has a long history as an educator of occupational therapy undergraduate and postgraduate students both in formal academic programs and through continuing professional education on a local, national and international scale. She is regularly invited to disseminate her work through key note addresses at professional conferences and is a well-known speaker and researcher in occupational therapy. Dr. Chapparo’s research has included occupational therapy theory development, ecological assessment of cognition, effect of strategies to improve school performance of children with learning disorders and impact of orthotic and physical guidance interventions on upper limb and hand function. She continues to teach numerous postgraduate courses at the University and supervises research students working to obtain undergraduate honours qualifications, masters degrees by research and coursework and doctoral students. In 2006, she received the University of Sydney’s Excellence in Teaching Award. Dr. Chapparo is a Faculty member of Sensory Integration International and is a Neurodevelopmental Therapy instructor.
